Ask-the-Expert Roundtables 6 - 9pm

When a person serves as a member of a community association board or committee, that individual undertakes an important responsibility. Association board members and some committee members have the legal authority and responsibility to act. This legal obligation is imposed whether or not the leaders are compensated. CAI knows community association leaders take their jobs seriously.

This special event is designed to give you the opportunity to select any 3 topics of interest from the list below, and join other association leaders and managers in 50-minute discussions with industry and association experts on each topic. All topics will be available during each of the 3 sessions. At the end of each session, you’ll be given a 10 minute break before the start of the next. You may change your topic roundtable at any time—this event is for you; we want you to benefit the most from your time there.

Bring a friend or two and participate in all the topic discussions!

(We haven't finalized the Roundtabe Topics for 2011 yet, but the list from 2010 will give you an idea of the breadth of topics and discussion leaders):

Board selection, succession planning, and training (Leaders: Connie Heyer, Niemann & Heyer, LLP; and Bill Brooks, CMCA, AMS, RealManage)

Vendor selection, contracting and management (Leaders: John Connors, Canyon Creek HOA; and Chris Harrison, Estates at Settlers Park HOA)

Dispute resolution (Leaders: Claude Ducloux, Hill, Ducloux, Carnes & de la Garza and Richard Wallace, LCSW, MBA State Executive Director, Providence Services of Texas)

Establishment, management, and enforcement of neighborhood standards (Leaders: Denise Jimenez, Southwest Management Services; and Wendi Petrolia, Planned Community Management, Inc)

Building community within your association (Leaders: Scott Selman, Steiner Ranch HOA; and Daniel Llanes, River Bluff Neighborhood Association)

POA/HOA financial management and dues collection (Leaders: Guy Goodwin, Goodwin Management, Inc; and Mark Rowe, Canyon Creek HOA)

Pricing

Ask-the-Expert Roundtables—two ways to register:

  • Register 5 or more from the same neighborhood at our “Neighborhood Special” price of just a flat $40. (CAI membership is not required)

  • Otherwise, register as individuals at $10 per person (members)/$15 per person (non-members)

Payable in advance (online or by check), or by cash or check at the door as space is available. Space is limited. Pre-registration is recommended.
